About The Author
Yousef Ibrahim Barjas Alta'any is the author of The Alta'any Method: LA Style Salsa Explained and an internationally recognized Salsa educator, choreographer, performer, and writer with over 15 years of experience in the Latin dance industry.
His writing reflects a lifelong commitment to preserving and sharing the artistry of LA Style Salsa. Through The Alta'any Method, Yousef transforms years of teaching, performing, competing, and coaching into a structured learning system that helps dancers build strong foundations, develop musicality, improve partner connection, and dance with confidence.
Before becoming an author, Yousef established himself as one of Australia's leading Salsa dancers. He received distinction at the 2014 NSW Salsa Open Championships and has competed and performed at numerous national and international Salsa competitions and events since beginning his professional career in 2009.
As the founder of Sydney Salsa Sabor Dance Company and El Sabor Latin Dance, Yousef has taught and mentored hundreds of dancers while contributing to the growth of Australia's Latin dance community. Beyond the studio, he has volunteered as a dance teacher and stage choreographer, helping individuals build confidence, express themselves creatively, and experience the positive impact of dance.
Today, Yousef combines his experience as an educator, performer, and author to make high-quality Salsa education accessible to dancers around the world. Through his books, articles, and future educational resources, he aims to inspire dancers to deepen their understanding of movement, musicality, creativity, and the art of human connection through dance.
